Le Classiche - Stucchi Fiorentini e Marmorino Fiorentino

Stucchi Fiorentini and Marmorino Fiorentino are interior decorative paints that belong to the “Le Classiche” family of products in Candis’ Antiche Terre Fiorentine line. They are nanostructured products made from high calcium lime that has been aged for a long time (CL 90-S, in compliance with the European Standard for Building Lime EN 459-1).

They have great filling power, are highly resistant to mould and bacteria and guarantee stability over time and high water vapour permeability.

The application procedure differs for each product.
APPLYING STUCCO
A) Apply one coat of Stucco Primer.
B) Apply three coats of Stucco, making sure that the previous coat has fully dried (the first coat can be white or coloured, depending on the effect you wish to obtain).
C) Apply the Cera wax finish.

APPLYING MARMORINO
A) Apply one coat of Stucco Primer.
B) Apply one coat of white or coloured Marmorino (preferably the latter).
C) Apply two coats of coloured Stucco.
D) Apply the Cera wax finish.

In both procedures, the Stucco Primer can be applied with either a roller or brush, and it needs to be diluted with 30-40% water depending on the kind of surface.

The first coat of Stucco and Marmorino should be applied with a steel trowel, whereas the other two coats should be applied with a stainless steel trowel. Before applying a new coat, you must make sure that the previous one has dried completely (at least 8-12 hours). When these steps have been completed, you can apply the Cera wax with a soft sponge until it is fully absorbed.

When using either Stucco or Marmorino, make sure you remove any water that may have formed at the surface of the tin (a perfectly natural occurrence) before you add the Toner.

Preparation

Antiche Terre Fiorentine - Gli Stucchi Fiorentini e Marmorino Fiorentino, Preparation

Before you start to paint, make sure that the Stucco Primer has dried completely (at least 12 hours).

The first coat of Stucco or Marmorino can be applied directly. If you have chosen Marmorino, when completed you will have the characteristic shadow effect exalted by the presence of small white specks that stand out against the chosen colour.

Another option is to use the ATF Toners with either of the products in the following proportions: Stucco - 1/4, 1/2 or 1 Toner per 2.5-litre tin or 1, 2 or 4 Toners per 10-litre tin Marmorino - 4-6 Toners per 15-litre tin. We highly recommend that you don’t exceed these proportions and that you stir the mixture until you have obtained a fully uniform colour.

When mixed with the Toner, both Stucco and Marmorino lose a bit of their viscosity. For this reason, before you apply the mixture you will have to wait for at least 12 hours to give the products time to regain their viscosity.

If you wish to reduce this time, however, you can use one of our thickeners. The second and third coats can only be applied with coloured Stucco (and not with Marmorino). So, as you can see, it is the first coat that determines the final appearance of the wall.

With Stucco you will have a smooth and shiny finish in the colour you’ve chosen, while Marmorino will give you a semi-shiny finish with natural-looking shading effects (whitish if you have used the finish as is, or coloured if you have added an ATF toner).

When the surface has dried (approximately 48 hours after the third coat), we recommend that you apply the Cera wax finish to give your wall extra protection and washability.
