History

Candis began doing business as far back as 1969 thanks to the clear entrepreneurial mindset of its founder and president, Alberto Gilli, whose far-reaching vision enabled him to recognize a thriving business in the field of decorative paints.

It was a new sector but one that he knew would yield extensive opportunities. The decoration of interior spaces reflects who we are as individuals, revealing our accomplishments and passions, and Candis has become a key player in providing a vast range of options to satisfy these specific needs.

For about twenty years, Candis focused its activity primarily on foreign markets. Then in 1990, the company established itself as a leader in the Italian market thanks in particular to Antiche Terre Fiorentine, the product that set the standard for the entire field of decorative paints.

From that point on, there has been a succession of ambitious goals and major accomplishments. With a turnover that is constantly on the rise with over 40% of yearly growth in the last years, a staff of about 80 and a strong sales and marketing department, Candis is a sound and solid business in the industry today. Products are studied from its original headquarters in Andezeno (Torino) and shipped daily to over 1500 domestic retail stores and to 33 international markets where technical collaboration with the best local paint manufacturers is the key for worldwide distribution of the Italian fashion.

And now, as has been the case for over 40 years, CANDIS’ mission is to concentrate its efforts on the only real goal that matters – excellence – and the results are evident in its products, its concern for the environment and its commercial dealings. Such excellence can only be achieved by a company that knows how to match that unique Italian style with the specific needs of its customers. Every one of them.

All the colours of your life

Candis has always been synonymous with Antiche Terre Fiorentine, the key product behind its success ever since the beginning of the Nineties.

Thanks to this product, Candis has set the standard for the decorative paint market in Italy. From this source a host of products have emerged over time, now offering a selection of 52 colours that can be combined to produce over 200 different shades.

It thus makes sense that the company’s claim, “All the colours of your life”, emphasizes this long-standing attention to colour. Colour can reflect a certain mood, a certain situation, what we are and what we would like to be. We all have our own favourite colour range and are influenced by it.

Now, Antiche Terre Fiorentine has “grown up”. It is a tenacious brand with 20 decorative solutions for interior and exterior spaces, as well as stucco and other related products.

These products are grouped into different families: Le Classiche, Le Moderne, Le Etniche and Le Preziose. Their unique qualities guide and inspire customers in choosing the right decor for their homes. They are all easy to apply and, depending on the desired effect, can produce various forms of chiaroscuro - that play of shadow and light - which is both unique and truly enchanting.

The wide range of Candis products also includes the following: Borders, decorative adhesive strips that are easy to apply to the walls; Frescos, which are reproduced on a surface that looks just like real plaster; and lastly, Reliefs, which are actual wall sculptures. Of course, there is also a complete series of specifically-designed tools, such as brushes, trowels and spatulas.

The business

More than anything else, Candis is a concrete example of the passion of one family - the Gilli family. Alberto is its founder and is still the acting President; his daughter Beatrice, his right arm and assistant, is destined to take the helm of the company. Alberto’s brother-in-law, Paolo, works at his side with a first-rate managerial team that coordinates all aspects of the business.

The sales management in Italy is constantly focused on providing domestic distributors with updated demonstrations to show the full potential of its products, as well as spreading product information across a far-reaching network.

On the foreign market, the company has concentrated its energies primarily on importers and other manufacturers. China, India, the Middle East and South America represent just some of the markets that can testify to the quality and efficiency of the work done by Candis.

Moreover, the company has always taken an active part in the most important international trade fairs, such as Made Expo, Batimat, Construmat, Construtec, Mosbuild and Farbe.

Much of Candis’ success comes from its continuous investment in Research and Development and the tireless work done by its technical department. It is constantly focused on studying and developing new products that blend stylistic trends with a heightened awareness of environmental issues.

The new plant occupies over 8000 m2 and is located just a short distance from Turin, amidst the green hills surrounding Chieri. Here, the products are conceived, created, tested, manufactured and stored before being shipped off to retail stores around the world.
